Emmerich Weissenberger creates the work in a collaborative process with the people of the four foundations and institutions that form the core team of the House of Philanthropy in Vienna (left to right in the picture: 1) Blühendes Österreich Foundation; 2) Essl Foundation's Zero Project; 3) Middle section: "House of Philanthropy beings"; 4) Heart Dream / People Share Foundation; 5) Ashoka.
The basic sketches and drawings on the large center image were created in a workshop in which numerous employees and the founders got involved and were able to make the common, the essentials of their heart's concerns tangible and perceptible. The result is a multi-layered, densely painted workpiece that the artist has deliberately turned over for further processing and continues to work on the back.

For the illustrator Weissenberger, paper is much more than just material and a sensual medium of his work; according to his perception, paper also possesses spiritual characteristics, which he can realise by means of his special technique. In this spirit, a project in Venezuela was realised at the Museo Juan Astorga Anta, in which Emmerich Weissenberger’s first Oilpaper house was presented as the central object.

Works on oiled paper
Emmerich Weissenberger's translucent oil papers are a specific creation of the artist. During his university studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in the master classes of Franz Graf and Gunter Damisch, he developed this special form of image processing, preservation and refinement. From the instructions of the old masters – in which organic media such as egg white and linseed oil are mixed with stone flour, ionic salt and metallic pigments – Weissenberger has created his own basis for presentation, painting and drawing. Whole rooms – so-called oil paper houses – are created by the artist, semi-transparent paper walls, which transcend light from outside to inside and from inside to outside in colors ranging from ocher yellow to bright orange and pimple red.
